NEFT''s fly tying course is designed for the beginner looking to tie their own flies; no experience is necessary to join. Our instructors will teach you the fundamentals of Fly-tying including:

Fly-tying tools
Materials
A touch of entomology (the study of insects)


Students will tie a variety of flies including Dry Flies, Nymphs and Streamers.

A copy of the New England Fly Tyers Manual of Fly-ting, and all fly-tying materials used during the class, are provided by the NEFT.


Course cost is: $50.00/Members - $80.00/Non-members (includes one year membership!)
Cost of the course includes a copy of the NEFT Manual of Fly-tying manual and all materials used during the class

Students must supply their own fly-tying tools.

What could be better than catching a fish using a fly that you tied, but to catch it on a rod that you built yourself!

The NEFT custom rod building classes are designed to help design and build your own custom fishing rod.

Over this 4-week course, our instructors will guide you through every step of the basics including:

  • How to Spline Blanks
  • Attaching Tip Tops
  • Thread Wrapping
  • Filing Guide Feet
  • Guide Placement
  • Attaching Reel Seats
  • Applying Finish

 At the end of the class, you will have a completed rod ready to fish!

* Includes $15.00 refundable deposit for bench rental. NEFT provides epoxies/glue, threads, wrapping jigs, motors, and tools.
Students must provide their own rod blank, grip, reel seat and guides.
